First the surface is cleaned and prepared for surfacing. Depending on the condition of the base this may include sanding/grinding, crack repair, joint filling acid etching and/or pressure cleaning.

Once your surface is prepared if its a concrete base it will require a bonding coat to allow the subsequent layers of material to properly bond to the surface.

Colour Coats
If your surface is not perfectly flat or is a porous such as asphalt then one or more basecoats may be required to achieve a level surface to apply your colour coats to.

Two colour coats are required to get even colour density across the surface, some lighter colours like yellows may require more but typically two is the magic number.
